In the US, they have recently finished Summer holidays and the back to school season! (I still dream of being able to attend a Summer Camp in the US – we’ve seen them in so many movies and TV shows and it looks like a lot of fun. Not to mention how much I love the song “Camp Granada” from the Looney Tunes classic album!)
Back to the story, Lunchskins sandwhich bags have enjoyed some excellent reviews for back to school essentials.

They write on the blog: Kora & Logan brought their lunch to school every day this week. While making their lunch I was aware of how many plastic baggies were being used and thought there has to be a better way to make their lunches more environmentally friendly. That’s why I was excited to learn about LunchSkins.
LunchSkins are food-safe, dishwasher friendly, reusable sandwich and snack bags that come in cute designs. Aren’t they adorable?
When Kora and Logan saw them they immediately wanted me to pack their lunches using LunchSkins and I was thrilled they were excited about them too. I explained how they worked and they thought they were a fantastic idea and couldn’t wait to start using them. I was happy to read on the packaging that they are also made of a high-quality one-of-a-kind fabric used by professional bakers and that they are bpa, lead, and phthalate free.
There are also large 8 x 7 inch Big Bags which are great for subs, a slice of pizza, or as a small lunch tote. They have a line of Totes too that help replace brown bags. Sold as kits they include the tote and a variety of sandwich and snack bags.
LunchSkins was started when the creators heard the statistic that every day more than 20 million sandwich bags from school lunches go into landfills in the U.S. Not only do LunchSkins help the environment but by being reusable they help save money too and are one of our favorite back-to-school finds.
And here’s another positive review from EightymphMom
I make each of my daughter’s a sandwich everyday for school like so many other mama’s (and daddy’s) do. Using a typical plastic bag would mean that you are throwing away 180 bags per school year per child! Yikes! I have used other types of sandwich wraps before, some with great success and others not so much, so I was delighted when LunchSkins sent a couple of their bags for my review. LunchSkins offers various sized reusable bags to accommodate your needs. The petite reusable snack bag is perfect for some fruit, a few cookies (my girls like a little sweet treat with their lunches), or some cheesy crackers that I have never seen a child turn down. Jessica Alba shared: “Airlines aren’t known for their tasty or kid-friendly food options, so we pack our own. LunchSkins reusable baggies are great for snacks like raw carrots, broccoli, and a homemade almond, dried cranberry, and granola mix.”
Look at the pretty fabrics I was sent! Seriously, I get compliments from various teachers every Tuesday when I go help with lunches. Everyone wants to know where I got them from! Just think the amount of waste that would be saved from our landfills if everyone had a LunchSkins of their own! During the week I wipe the bag out with a clean cloth but then on Friday’s I throw them into the dishwasher. Yep, they clean up perfectly and are ready to use the next week!
You know the thousands of clear plastic baggies that you threw away five days a week from preschool through high school? The innovative crew at Lunchskins thought that the individual sandwich holding baggie was way overdue for an environmentally friendly update, and they were right!
InventorSpot also thought they were a great idea that works very well.
Lunchskins are reusable bags made in a trio of convenient sizes to hold whatever you or your kids bring along for lunch. These would’ve been an excellent thing for me to have when I was in school, especially since I enjoyed a turkey and mustard sandwich each day, my mom kept buying disposable baggies for the previously mentioned lunch staple.
A Lunchskin is an investment that saves the “brown bagger” even more money in the long run, and I really put emphasis on “long run,” as they are dishwasher-safe, quick-drying, grease-proof and moisture-proof, so each of these handy bangs will tote your snacks for a good, long time. Whether it’s for the convenience, penny pinching, or if you’re looking to put a serious dent in the 20 million plastic sandwich bags that end up in landfills each year, Lunchskins are a fantastic idea for the ultimate sustainable lunch.
